Norfolk Ram Group, LLC is pleased to announce that Sam Bartlett, our summer intern, has been awarded the SAME 2011 SMALL BUSINESS INTERNSHIP GRANT. The grant will provide Norfolk the ability to hire a summer intern whose primary function will be assisting Norfolk staff on the preparation of a technical paper regarding the fate and transport characteristics of heating oil releases. The paper will be presented in October at the 27th Annual International Conference on Soils, Sediments, Water & Energy.
Sam attends Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is on track to graduate with a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering in 2013. He recently returned from working on a project in Santa Fe, New Mexico with the Santa Fe Watershed Association and the Santa Fe Complex to aid local environmental organizations and involve the community in the Santa Fe River restoration efforts. Along with the rest of his project team, Sam created an information sharing and mapping system for the City Water Division, an interactive watershed simulation for the Santa Fe Complex, and a smartphone application that lets community members collect watershed data and interact with the river.
