Wastewater Treatment and On-site Systems

Norfolk Ram engineers have prepared designs and overseen construction of hundreds of subsurface wastewater disposal systems.  Systems range from two-bedroom, single-family residences to multi-dwelling condominiums with sewage flows up to 15,000-gallons per day (gpd) including pumping system designs and/or innovative alternative design strategies. Norfolk also has extensive experience in designing full-scale wastewater treatment plants and/or package plants for larger flows (10,000-gpd to 300,000-gpd) that require Groundwater Discharge Permits to be obtained from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

The firm also provides assistance to municipalities in managing wastewater treatment. Past and current relationships include the towns of Pembroke, MA; Hanson, MA; Carver, MA; Marshfield, MA; Cohasset, MA; and Leicester, MA.  Norfolk engineers hold Professional Engineering (P.E.) licenses, State Department of Environmental Protection certified soil evaluator licenses and septic system inspector licenses. Our engineering professionals are intimately familiar with the latest Title 5 septic disposal regulations.  Moreover, Norfolk Ram is experienced at implementing systems in compliance with the guidelines set forth in the U.S. EPA's Design Manuals for "On-site Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Systems,” "Land Treatment of Municipal Wastewater," and "Septage Treatment and Disposal."

Norfolk Ram engineers also coordinate and oversee construction of wastewater systems, including review of shop drawings and contractor submittals, inspection testing of facilities and systems for acceptance on behalf of clients, and performance of final utility and "as-built" field surveys, and prepared associated as-built plans and reports for submittal to clients and state and regulatory authorities.  Norfolk Ram provides clients with the highest level of professional service necessary to see any on-site wastewater construction project through to successful completion.

Norfolk also specializes in the following:
